CST 8110 - Assignment One

Email is due 11am May 16. Printed output is due 9am Wednesday May 21.

Purpose and Instructions:

• This is an introduction to assignment submission standards. You will be evaluated based on the neatness of your assignment and how closely you follow the assignment submission guidelines published in the course notes.

  Type in the C Language program found on page 23 of the textbook (Figure 1.9). Take care to make the program neat. Follow the spacing and indentation used in the textbook.

  To the top of the program file, type in the Algonquin Program Header text found on page 25 of the Blue Book by Arnold Betz. For examples of how to properly use the Algonquin Program Header in front of a C program, see the Blue Book (e.g. p.26, p.36, Appendix A, etc.). Make sure the C program runs properly and gives the correct output after you have added the Program Header to it.

  Modify the program header "History" section to use your own name, the current date, and your class and Lab section information. Under "Algorithm" in the program header, enter a summary of how the program works, as developed in the text book.

  When the program is running correctly and you have added and modified the Algonquin Program Header properly, email the contents of the resulting file (just the source code) to idallen@freenet.carleton.ca using the email Subject of "cst8110 assignment 1". Then print the source file, add a title page that conforms to the assignment submission guidelines, and put the assignment in my assignment box by the due date.

Evaluation:

• Your completed assignment must be mailed to me through email before 11am Friday, May 16, 1997. You have until 9am Wednesday, May 21, to submit the printed output into my assignment box. You must follow the assignment submission guidelines in the course notes.

1. The aggregate of all assignment marks comprises 25% of your final mark. All assignments must be completed satisfactorily to get credit for the course. (See the course outline.)

   Late assignments are handled according to the policy given in the course outline.
