The subject of Linux had always been very daunting for me. Mr. Allen, with his humour and enthusiasm, were able to make the subject able to be learned relatively painlessly by someone as easily frustrated by change as myself. As a formerly thoroughbred Windows person, (rehabilitated may be a more appropriate term) changes simply dont come as big as they do in the switch to Linux, and with my (at the time seemingly) limited resources, I had had little ability to experiment as I had with Windows, which is how I learned most of my craft pre-college. Mr. Allen made the subject less frustrating, and the college itself showed me ways to make use of my current resources that allow for even more experimentation than I had even thought possible, let alone wise. And I suspect that the best is yet to come. |

Thats my only real gripe, and its actually quite minor; it would also be nice if it covered the installation of Linux programs, (allowing student learning/experimentation, perhaps on a clone of the VM to allow a maintained clean install on another VM.) but thats about it. |

He did that only once of course but this explains the entire approach he takes to teaching: FUN.
