Each Midterm Test and Final Exam will have an associated set of unmarked practice questions, with answers, and a set of marked quizzes based on those practice questions.
Practice questions are samples only. The actual questions on the Midterms and Final Exam are usually different. There may be a few new question types on the tests and exams that don’t appear in the practice tests.
The tests use the semicolon
;
to separate multiple commands on the same line, to save space and paper, e.g. three separate commands can be written on one line like this (the dollar sign is the optional shell prompt; do not type it):$ date ; who ; ls $ echo "hi" ; wc /etc/passwd ; rm file
Do not use semicolons as an interactive human user! Type each command on its own line with the [Enter] key.
Each practice test tries not to include many questions from any previous practice test, but each real test is cumulative and includes questions from all previous practice tests.
To prepare for Midterm #2, use both Practice Test #1 and Practice Test #2.
Each practice test tries not to include many questions from any previous practice test, but each real test is cumulative and includes questions from all previous practice tests.
To prepare for the final exam, use all the practice tests, and all the midterm tests.
As each practice test (above) is released, Brightspace will have some Quizzes, worth marks, containing random samples of questions taken from that practice test.
See Quizzes and Tests.
If you want to see all the practice question types that could be on the test, and only see each question once, use the PDF files from this web page, not just the online Quizzes.
For details on the two Midterm Tests and the Final Exam, see Quizzes and Tests.
Read the Test Instructions (all the words) before each test and exam.
