New this Fall - The Student Support Lab What is the Student Support Lab? The Student Support Lab is a place where students can go to enhance their general academic skills. Its focus will be to help students build a solid foundation of reading, writing, math and research skills in order to support student success. The lab offers one-on-one assistance and access to computer-based learning resources. The lab will provide support in core skills that serve as a foundation for college learning. These skills include: Math Fundamentals Reading Writing The Student Support Lab will supplement other services offered by the Learning Resource Centre and the Online Learning Centre. These other services include: Blackboard Support Computer Basics Research Techniques 1.1 Where is the Student Support Centre Located? In the new Learning Resource Centre in C102. 1.2 What Are The Hours of Operation? Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm How Can My Students Get One-On-One Support? Students can drop by in person or book an appointment with a Learning Assistant. Staff will be available to work with students for as much time as they need. To book an appointment, students can call extension 6552. Would My Students Come to the Student Support Lab for Help With Their Coursework? The purpose of the Student Support Lab is to help students build a solid foundation of reading, writing, math and research skills in order to support student success. Students who need assistance with course-specific subject matter should be referred to the Peer Tutoring service provided by Counselling Services.
