================================================= What to Study for the MVS Midterm Test in Week 13 ================================================= -IAN! idallen@ncf.ca The MVS Mid-Term Test takes place in the last hour of Week 13 (Friday, April 11). You must prepare your "crib sheet" and hand it in to your instructor by 3pm on the Thursday before the test (see below). The test is 45 minutes long. It contains a JCL problem similar to the JCL Example files and homework, and it contains some multiple-choice questions. The test is worth 10% of your term mark. The test covers JCL Examples 1 and 2 and the related homework and weekly notes files (Week 11, Week 12, and the first part of Week 13). The JCL parameters covered are listed in Week 1 and Week 2 of the MVSweekly.txt file. You must code syntactically correct JCL - see file chapter1-4guide.txt (under JCL Notes) for study notes on these chapters. The MVS test is closed-book and closed-notes. Blank paper will be available at the test for notes and diagrams. CRIB SHEET You are allowed to make one one-sided "crib sheet" for use in the test. Put your name and lab section number on the sheet in easy-to-read letters in the top left hand corner of the paper. If I can't find your name and section number, you won't get the sheet returned to you. The sheet must be handed in on real paper (no EMail) to your instructor by 3pm on the Thursday before the test. If you can't hand the paper to me in person, put it under my office door before the deadline. You can hand-write or computer-print the sheet. If you handed in the crib sheet on time, and it has your name and lab section number in the top left hand corner, you will get this piece of paper back a few minutes before your test begins. This sheet and a calculator are the only aids you are permitted. Crib sheets that are two-sided, have no name or section number in the top left corner, or are submitted late, will be discarded. Be accurate; be punctual. Your one-sided crib sheet must be no bigger than 8 1/2 by 11 inches (or metric A4). You can put *anything* from this term on this sheet (one side only); but, you must do the work to put it there. Crib sheets containing JCL that is not from this term (e.g. last term's midterm or final exam questions) will be discarded. Crib sheets that are copies of each other will be discarded. Magnifying glasses are permitted. You will write your JCL on paper coding sheets, and your JCL must be aligned correctly (in columns) according to JCL syntax rules. What you must bring to the test: 1. You will need a pencil to write in answers to multiple-choice questions. 2. A calculator is permitted, but is not required. Multiple-choice answers will be written down (in pencil only) on mark sense forms.
