In Week 1 (see week01notes.txt) you received two floppy disks
containing the Floppix version of Linux and learned how to boot it.
You connected to ACADUNIX and verified your account and password.
You received Exercise #1 and learned how to post and cancel news
articles in the algonquinc.test news group.

Read the course announcements frequently, especially before tests.
You will find direct links to the Announcements and Discusion news groups
near the top of the home page for this course.

This Week (Week 2)
------------------

1.  Finish the reading and deliverables in Exercise #1 and submit it for
    marking according to directions.  

2.  Make sure you can log in to the ACADUNIX Unix machine.
    If not, go to the ITS Help Desk to have your account reset.

3.  Buy *both* of the the course texts before they are all gone, and
    before the bookstore sends the extra copies back to the publisher!

4.  Read your textbook.  Look under the "Notes" button on the course web
    page for these study notes and reading guides for the Linux textbook:

    chapter01guide.txt (Introduction)
    chapter02guide.txt (Getting Started)
    chapter03guide.txt (Utilities)

    Use the guides to study the textbook; don't read it all.

5.  Complete these short Floppix Labs from http://www.floppix.com/

    Floppix Lab  1: Geting Started
    Floppix Lab  2: Running Commands
    Floppix Lab 13: Who's on?
    Floppix Lab 22: e-mail
    Floppix Lab 23: telnet
    Floppix Lab 24: ftp
      (note - see your Linux text p.170 for how to use "anonymous" FTP)
    Floppix Lab 25: links [the text-mode www browser]
    Floppix Lab 27: Super User
    Floppix Lab 12: grep

6.  Read these files under the Notes button on the course home page:

     miscellaneous.txt     Miscellanous Unix Facts
       - just sections 1 through 6 this week
     man_page_RTFM.txt     Searching for items in the Unix manual pages (RTFM)

     shells.txt            The Unix Shell

7.  Start work on Exercise #2 when it is announced.
