Introduction

Obtain your textbook. Put your name in it so that we can identify it if we find it lying around.
Your personal Linux CDROMs will be available in a week or two.
Configure your Unix Netscape email identity and servers.  The College has some online instructions for setting up your EMail that are correct only for an older version of Netscape that runs on College IBM-style computers; do not follow these directions to set up your Unix Netscape.  In particular, do not use PC-style pathnames such as "N:\Sent" or "N:\Mail".
The names of the SMTP and POP servers are correct; you can transfer them to Unix Netscape.

Test that you can send and receive email.
Configure your Netscape news server to be news.idallen.com.   Subscribe to these news groups (and any others you like): algonquinc.cst.fasttrack-98.announce algonquinc.cst.fasttrack-98.discussion
Post a news item to the Discussion news group.  Introduce yourself!
When your accounts are available, verify that your Algonquin dial-up account works correctly.  Information on using the dial-up is on the Student Services web page.
