A. Read Tutorial 5 (pages 187 - 220), practice on a PC, and answer the following
questions:
- Name the guidelines and techniques given in the text to troubleshoot
computer problems.
- What are the preventive measures recommended in the text to help avoid
computer problems?
- Name the accompanying text file that provides you with up-to-date
information about software that you purchase or download.
- When you first switch the power of the computer on, the so-called startup
routine becomes active; where is the startup routine located? On C: drive or
on A:drive?

following questions:
- Give three reasons why the MS-DOS knowledge is important to a computer
professional.
- DOS is a single task operating system; how does a multi-tasking system
like Window 95 handle the running of a DOS application?
- Explain how does Windows 95 handle the running of two DOS applications at
the same time.
- State the steps needed to create a shortcut for a DOS application on the
desktop.
- Explain how to set the default data directory for the DOS application
through its shortcut icon?
- Which key(s) do you press to change the a window displaying a DOS
application to a full screen view of that application?
- Under what circumstances do you want to run the exclusive MS-DOS mode? Can
you run any other Windows 95 applications in that mode?
- What does the conventional memory mean in MS-DOS? The upper memory area?
The high memory area? And the extended memory ?
- State the steps needed to add a DOS application to the Start Menu.
- State the steps needed to remove the application of #7 from the Start
Menu.
